Watching a home be demolished
and then be trucked away
was something that stirred my adrenaline —
I don’t see this every day.
I was awed by his skill with the shovel —
that operator worked so well.
But the emotions that grew as I watched him
Made the pain in my stomach swell.
How can this family recover?
How can they turn the page?
How can they feel that justice was done,
Or feel anything other than rage?

So sad. Yes, I went to see it yesterday and it tore a piece out of me to see it.

It’s strange how the absence of this home occupies so much space!
I can almost feel the steps I took at the time we were trying to build a sandbag dam to block the flood waters from the garage. In some ways it seems like yesterday.

Was this house just down the street from you? I assume it was from the flood damage that the demolition was made necessary, so maybe there will be a new structure in the future. You can only hope!

Yes, two down from me, closer to the water.
It was an ordered demolition. And no, there will never be a structure built there again. Maybe a park? We’ll have to wait and see.
