Thanks to The Lutterworth Press, I have recently been given permission to create and sell cards using vintage illustrations from The Girls Own Paper. These illustrations are true gems indeed, and I am tickled pink to be able to share modified versions of them with the public through a second store with Greeting Card Universe. Gradually, all cards created with images from The Girls Own Paper will be moved over to Audities Cards Vintage, so that, if you are as enthralled as I am by these nostalgic sketches, you will be able to go directly to that second store to find them.
So you see, that is why I’m thinking of you today: these changes take time, for designing, transferring, submitting, getting approval, tweaking, etc.
In the meantime, here is some more information about the Girls Own Paper, a “British story paper catering to girls and young women, published from 1880 until 1956.” As E. Honor Ward describes it on Wikipedia, “The G.O.P. was an important and positive influence on generations of girls and women, and a vital outlet for women’s writing and ideas, for more than three-quarters of a century.” To see some highlights, try this blog. Indeed, if I were still teaching “my girls” I would be using this truly delightful resource.
My first store, will eventually have none of these particular vintage gems, as they will all be moved to the second store only. For some reason, I am not allowed to display them in both. Thank you for being patient with me as I deal with these challenging changes.
